  • What is a container ramp used for?

    Accordion Item 1

    Subtitle

Container ramps provides a safe, stable bridge between ground level and a shipping container, allowing forklifts to easily load and unload goods. It eliminates the need for permanent dock facilities and can be used in warehouses, yards, and construction sites.

  • How do I choose the right container ramp for my application?

    Accordion Item 1

    Subtitle

Key factors to consider are your:

Load capacity: the combined weight of your forklift and load.

Container lip height: Always check the height from the ground to the container floor before selecting your ramp to ensure it’s compatible. Standard shipping containers sit lower than refrigerated (reefer) containers, which have a higher floor level due to their built-in refrigeration units. For these taller containers, a ramp such as the FCR65RR is specifically designed to bridge the increased height. Alternatively, you can use a bridging ramp extension like the CRN8RE with the CRN8 Container Ramp to achieve the correct height safely and efficiently.

Usage frequency: regular, heavy use may benefit from a heavy-duty ramp design. For high duty cycle a higher capacity ramp should be considered.

  • What is the difference between the container ramp?

    Accordion Item 1

    Subtitle

Standard ramps are suitable for general forklift access up to a specific working load limit (WLL). Heavy-duty ramps are designed for higher capacities, continuous use, or heavy forklifts commonly used in manufacturing and transport yards.

Be aware that not all container ramps are engineered the same. At East West Engineering, we design our ramps with optimised plate thickness and structural reinforcement on the underside. Using CAD modelling and testing, we minimise deflection under load and ensure the container ramp is matched to the intended application for improved safety, durability, and performance.

  • How is the container ramp secured during operation?

    Accordion Item 1

    Subtitle

All East West Engineering container ramps are designed with safety chains to secure the ramp to the container during operation, ensuring safe and stable use during loading and unloading

  • How do I move or position the container ramp?

    Accordion Item 1

    Subtitle

All East West Engineering container ramps are fitted with forklift pockets for easy positioning and relocation using a forklift.

  • What maintenance is required?

    Accordion Item 1

    Subtitle

Container ramps require minimal maintenance. Periodic inspections should check for wear, damage, or debris buildup. Keep the surface clean to ensure traction and verify that saffety chains are in good condition.
